Utah Symphony 2009 - 10 Archive - Romeo & Juliet
Julian Kuerti, Conductor Lori Wike, Bassoon
Bedřich Smetana – Richard III, op.11 John Williams – The Five Sacred Trees Hector Berlioz – Roméo et Juliette, op. 17: Selections
Melodic, sensuous, and overtly Romantic, Berlioz’s symphonic poem Roméo et Juliette will be complemented by another piece inspired by Shakespeare, Smetana’s Richard III. Between the two pieces, John Williams’ The Five Sacred Trees will invoke the inspiration and magic of the Celtic culture from which The Bard himself evolved.
This performance is one of the concerts in the Shakespeare in Music Festival - a community event of art, dance, food,
and literature. For more information, please visit the Shakespeare in Music Festival page, or the Utah Symphony | Utah Opera blog.
