Beethoven & Brahms 2 at the Noorda

Beethoven & Brahms 2 at the Noorda
  • Thu 7:30 PM Oct 22, 2020

The Noorda at UVU

Come hear the symphony that many called Brahms’ “Pastoral,” even though this cheerful masterpiece actually proved he was finally free of Beethoven’s imposing shadow.

Beethoven’s 250th birthday celebration continues with the Mozart-inspired piano concerto No. 3 and marks British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor’s Utah Symphony debut.
Frequent guest conductor Jun Märkl returns with a rare performance of the highly dramatic overture from Schumann’s only opera Genoveva, based on the medieval legend of Genevieve of Brabant.

Estimated concert length: 2 hours (including a 20 minute intermission)

SCHUMANN: Genoveva Overture
BEETHOVEN: Piano Concerto No. 3
BRAHMS: Symphony No. 2

Jun Märkl, conductor
Benjamin Grosvenor, piano
