Experience the symphony that changed the course of music history—Beethoven’s Fifth—conducted by Markus Poschner, who is known above all for his breathtaking Beethoven interpretations and recordings.
Raminta Šerkšnyte is a young Lithuanian composer – the work was commissioned and premiered by Mariss Jansons and Bayerischer Rundfunk. About the piece, Ms. Šerkšnyte writes: “When composing this piece, I had several sources of inspiration. First of all, I knew that in the premiere performance it will be played before Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, therefore a few motives from this symphony became the kernel of harmonic development of my music.”
Join us for a pre-concert chat about the evening’s program with Associate Conductor Ben Manis starting 45 minutes before the concert begins.
