South Korean conductor Shiyeon Sung makes her Utah Symphony debut in a program that prominently features the Utah Symphony Chorus and choirs from the University of Utah.
Composer in Association Arlene Sierra’s mysterious and evocative orchestral showpiece Aquilo appears as the first of her three U.S. premieres (including one world premiere) with the Utah Symphony this season.
A pair of Mozart’s most important liturgical works complete the program, including his offertory Misericordias domini, which features melodies that foreshadow Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” theme.
