Available in Hybrid Surround Sound and Stereo 2-Disc SACD and Hi-Res Downloads

On our newest recording with Thierry Fischer and the Utah Symphony, we join with the internationally-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir to present a thrilling and authoritative interpretation of the immense Mahler Symphony No. 8, "Symphony of a Thousand." This new release was recorded live in February 2016, from concerts in the Salt Lake Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah, sponsored by the O.C. Tanner Gift of Music. This organization was founded over 30 years ago through the combined vision of Obert C. Tanner and Gordon B. Hinckley, to share performances of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Utah Symphony, as a gift to the community.

Barry Forshaw for Classical CD Choice:

“Since Solti’s groundbreaking discs, there have been a variety of recordings of the Eighth — from the indifferent to the spectacular — but Thierry Fischer’s Utah recording will take some beating, not just its remarkable sensitivity to the composer’s intentions (every nuance and facet is found, from the more restrained colouristic passages to the great swells of orchestral excitement), captured in a recording which does full justice to the immense sound picture.”

Robert Benson for Classical CD Review

“There are dozens of recordings of Mahler’s mighty available… This new Utah version is surely among the best. Thierry Fischer again shows he is a master of Mahler in this perfectly paced performance that builds to a thrilling conclusion.”

Graham Williams of

“From the imposing opening E flat chord on lower strings, wind and organ, to the blazing antiphonal brass in the jubilant closing bars of this opening section, Fischer's control of his forces does not falter and yields predictably thrilling results.”
