Nation-wide research shows that certain barriers cloud the perception of a new patron to the arts. Young audiences find that they enjoy the sound of a symphony, but may feel the atmosphere will be elitist, or stuffy. Elements such as what to wear, how much tickets cost, concert length, knowing when (or when NOT) to clap are universally seen as the reasons why someone may think they might not enjoy the experience of attending a live classical music performance.
