Used to heartwarming effect in the movie Babe, the triumphant melody in the “Organ” Symphony’s finale has entered our collective consciousness as a representation of whimsy and innocence.

L’ubica Čekovská’s Toy Procession opens this program with childlike wonder. As the composer puts it, “This ability to be amazed—full of joy, with wide-open eyes in the here and now—is something which children have and which we must learn again.”
