OVERVIEW
Experience the passionate highs and lows of Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, from the fiery “Mambo!” to the heartbreak of “Maria” and “Tonight.” But first, hear the brilliant Marc-André Hamelin as his fingers dance and dive across the keys in Brahms’ First Piano Concerto. Considered the “greatest post-Beethoven masterpiece” and nothing short of revolutionary, this concerto established the piano soloist and orchestra as equal partners, whirling together toward its powerful conclusion. Finally, Ravel’s La valse spins from waltz-like elegance to chaotic splendor—a rapturous and satisfying finale to the 2026-27 Masterworks Series.
