OVERVIEW/RESUMEN

The Utah Symphony highlights music from Latin America’s great symphonic composers in this free, family-friendly concert including Moncayo’s Huapango, inspired by folk music from Veracruz, Mexico, and Villa-Lobos’ Sinfonietta No. 1, which was inspired by and dedicated to Mozart.

La Sinfónica de Utah destaca la música de los grandes compositores de Latinoamérica en este concierto gratis para toda la familia que incluye “Huapango” de Moncayo, inspirado por la música folclórica de Veracruz, México, y Sinfonietta No. 1 de Villa-Lobos, que fue inspirada y dedicada a Mozart.

PRE-CONCERT ACTIVITIES: Artes de Mexico presents the Artist: Vicky Lowe. Vicky will be engaging with families and children through the art of making book marks and other artistic objects with recycled home made materials transformed in paper. Vicky (K’ulub) Lowe, is an indigenous artist in resistance and an educator. As an artist her goal is to promote awareness and appreciation of Maya identity, history and culture. Her art is an active statement of resistance, a continuation of her family’s artistic heritage.

Chavez Entertainment will be offering free vocal training tips and a free voice evaluation.
