Guitar Celebrations

This April, Utah Symphony presents our community-wide Guitar Celebrations Festival—a multi-day extravaganza celebrating the diverse and captivating world of guitar music. Crafted by David Robertson (Utah Symphony’s Creative Partner) this event showcases seven world-class electric and acoustic guitarists on the stage of Abravanel Hall. These guitarists will bring a weekend of heightened music collaboration, including concerts, classes, and more!

Night On Earth Film Screening

“Night on Earth,” a 1991 film by director Jim Jarmusch, depicts five taxi rides in five different cities worldwide, all occurring simultaneously.

The guitarists featured in the Guitar Celebration Festival named their group “Another Night on Earth” as a homage to this film. They created and arranged music for performances across the US and around the world during the pandemic.


An Evening of 8 Guitars with Another Night on Earth

Classical music and guitars of all kinds combine to kick off the Utah Symphony’s Guitar Celebrations festival! Another Night On Earth is an ensemble like no other—made up of eight electric and acoustic guitarists based all over the world, coming together to perform music both classical and current. From melodies of the Middle Ages to present-day art music, Another Night On Earth will highlight the guitar’s sonic diversity! (Please note, the Utah Symphony does not perform on this concert.)
