Healthcare Night

Healthcare Night supports Utah Symphony | Utah Opera’s extensive and impactful education programs, while celebrating the undeniable connection between medicine and music. Since the 1980s, this special concert has gathered healthcare professionals and students together at Abravanel Hall, honoring the partnership between our incredible healthcare community and the Utah Symphony. Your support of Healthcare Night allows medical and dental students to experience the world-class music of the Utah Symphony free of charge at the evening’s concert and supports USUO’s 40+ ongoing education programs. Thank you for helping to ensure the future of music and medicine in our community is bright!

EVENT INFORMATION

FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 2024

Pre-concert Networking | 6:00 PM | Utah Museum of Contemporary Art

Join us for a pre-concert networking event surrounded by the stunning art of the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art. This exclusive opportunity invites Healthcare Night donors and medical and dental students to mingle and network throughout the galleries next door to Abravanel Hall. Enjoy appetizers, drinks, and a special performance by the Utah Medical Orchestra.

Concert | 7:30 PM | Maurice Abravanel Hall
Danny Elfman’s Percussion Concerto—written for acclaimed British percussionist Colin Currie—showcases the vast range of moods percussion instruments can create. But when it comes to the finale: “It’s fast, it’s exciting, it’s fireworks, and it’s a roof-raiser,” says Elfman, best known for his colorful film scores. Opening the program is a work for solo marimba by Bryce Dessner of alternative rock band The National. The pairing with Brahms’ Romantic-era masterpiece—a symphony 14 years in the making—places this program as one of our season favorites.

The Impact of Your Donation

Every season, the Utah Symphony travels the great expanse of Utah to perform education concerts for free in schools, bringing along the full orchestra of 85 musicians or a slightly smaller chamber orchestra of 45 to 50 musicians.

In fact, we visit every school district in Utah over a 3-5 year period. That means virtually every child in Utah will have a chance to hear a professional orchestra as part of their education.

In addition to individual support, USUO is grateful to receive public education funding from the Utah State Legislature which requires a one-to-one match. Your gift today will help us reach that match!

Double the impact of your donation

The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation pledged a matching challenge grant in support of our mission to “Connect the Community through Great Live Music.” Every gift from a new donor or an increased gift from our existing donors will be matched 1:1 up to $500,000 from now through May 1, 2024. With this match, your new or increased gift will have DOUBLE the impact!
