Claudia Restrepo

Librarian Claudia Restrepo joined the Utah Symphony in 2021. She came to Salt Lake City after working two seasons at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Library. Prior to her position at the DSO, she was the Library Fellow for the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, a position she held for 2 years. During this time, she was mentored by the librarians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and was an occasional substitute librarian for the CSO.

Claudia has served as the head librarian of the Aspen Music Festival, leading and mentoring the festival’s library team, while also being the librarian for the Aspen Festival Orchestra. Claudia has worked for the National Symphony Orchestra as assistant librarian, helping prepare music for performances at Wolf Trap and the nationally televised concert, “A Capitol Fourth.”

In 2017 Claudia was selected as a Library Fellow for the Tanglewood Music Center, where she led the music preparation for the Festival of Contemporary Music for the TMCO. As a TMC fellow, she assisted the Boston Symphony Orchestra librarians with music preparation for performances of the TMCO, the BSO, and the Boston Pops.

Claudia made her start in the orchestra library field while pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Utah, serving as the librarian for the Utah Philharmonia and Campus Symphony. While completing her Doctorate she also interned with Utah Symphony|Utah Opera, receiving librarian training and mentorship from the USUO librarians. While at the USUO, Claudia collaborated with Principal Librarian Clovis Lark to create new performing editions of Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphony No. 2 and Violin Concerto for G. Schirmer.

In addition to her DMA degree, Claudia also holds a Master of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Northern Iowa.
